Why do I have to have Down syndrome features?
As a person with Down syndrome, I often wonder why I have to have these distinct features. These characteristics, such as almond-shaped eyes, a flat nasal bridge, and a protruding tongue, are caused by the presence of an extra chromosome 21. Although my appearance may set me apart, it also serves as a reminder of my unique genetic makeup and the challenges I face. Despite these challenges, I embrace my Down syndrome features because they are an integral part of who I am. Ultimately, my appearance does not define me, but rather contributes to my strength, resilience, and individuality.
